CONTEXT
Traffic in large cities in Brazil would be better if there were a little more kindness. How to make drivers aware and identify infraction events? Creating an installation on street clocks that show how many minutes that region was free of violations, displaying the counter to everyone who is there.
Solution
The insight of this action for Petrobras came from NBS. Bolha developed a system capable of identifying, through a single camera, up to 3 types of traffic violations: the driver stopped at the crosswalk at the red light, the driver closed the intersection, the driver advanced the red light. We put together a functional prototype to simulate as many events as possible and carried out technical visits to Rio de Janeiro to select the best intersections and locations for the action to take place.
This project was designed as a pilot, a short essay to raise awareness about gentler traffic. In addition to the prototype, we developed a dashboard to account for the volume of violations by location and type. All of this as part of a laboratory In House of innovation, the action was not launched for the final audience.
